Course Outline
Module 1: Introduction
In this module, using avocado plants as a case study you will learn whether the item you intend to import is mentioned in the PQ Order or not. You will then learn to identify the additional declarations required. Lastly, we will touch on the topic of growing media that the plant will be imported in and identifying the conditions required to import growing media.
Learning Outcomes: You will learn how to identify the conditions required to import your planting material of choice.
Module 2: Pre-Import Preparation
This module will teach you how to get licenses and permissions required prior to the import procedure. The list of licenses include but not limited to Gumasta, Nursery license, NSC certificate, both the PQ forms, PQMS registration etc.
Learning outcomes: You will learn how to acquire the licenses needed prior to the import procedure.
Module 3: Import Procedure
This module discusses the actual import procedure. It discusses the money transfer process, documents to be received from your Israeli supplier where the most important document being the phytosanitary certificate, additionally we also talk about the documents you need to provide to your CHA and how to arrange a reefer truck to take the plants back from the port to your Quarantine facility.
Learning outcomes: You will learn about the actual import process.
Module 4: Post Import Documentation
This section talks about the actions you need to take post import. We discuss how to prepare Annexure 10 A part 1 & 2 and get the Final release order after the quarantine period is over. We also mention the process of getting your Bill of Entry approved and uploaded on the RBI portal.
Learning Outcomes: You will learn about the documentation and paper work you need to do post import.
Module 5: Costing & File Management system
The sheer number of licenses required in the import procedure incurs a cost and you will need to organize all the licenses and procedure so you can access the documents at a later date. This module will give an excel sheet explaining the costs involved and give a file management system.
Learning Outcomes: You will be able to estimate costs involved and learn how to manage all the files.
Module 6: Conclusion
We conclude this course and mention how you might need external consultants like CHA, CA and me to help you at certain steps in the import procedure.
